EXCURSION PROGRAMME

Visit the site of one of the most famous natural disasters in history with a day trip to the ruins of Pompeii. See why these excavated remains hold such fascination for visitors today and get a look at the smoldering volcano of Mount Vesuvius, whose eruption doomed the city almost 2,000 years ago.

A deluxe tour bus takes you from your hotel or designated meeting point along the famous Amalfi Drive, passing picturesque little towns on your way to Pompeii. Here, your guide takes you through some of the ancient streets that archaeologists have uncovered over centuries of excavation. You can see the baths, forums, and villas built for the city's prosperous inhabitants dating back to 80 BC, and marvel at the fabulously preserved frescos that adorn the walls and floors.

Next, pay a visit to the mountain that looms over these ancient sights. A ride up the slopes of Mount Vesuvius lets you walk right up to the summit and admire the splendid panorama of the bay. Look for a plume of smoke from the blackened crater of this still-active volcano before you start back toward the Amalfi Coast, and pay a visit to one of the region's most prestigious cameo and coral factories before you return to the Amalfi Coast.

  • Important to Know: Pick up is available from most Amalfi,Atrani Conca Dei Marini, Positano, Maiori, Minori Praiano or Ravello Hotels or from designated meeting points in your hotel area, please indicate your hotel location when booking.
