Pick up directly from your hotel or indicated meeting point, where you cross the towns forming part of the Sorrentine peninsula and continue to State Road 145 "Sorrento", where you can admire the Sorrentine peninsula in all its glory ! After a journey of about 45 minutes you get to Herculaneum.
Take a look back at another time with a visit to the ruins of Herculaneum, buried 2,000 years ago in the great eruption of Mount Vesuvius. This excursion shows you one of the best-preserved Roman communities in the world, with some of the homes and household objects that defined 1st-century life.
Unlike Pompeii, which lay directly downwind of the volcano, Herculaneum was buried slowly in mud and lava that preserved many wooden structures and household objects, which can be seen again today. Unlike Pompeii, the deep pyroclastic material which covered it preserved wooden and other organic-based objects such as roofs, beds, doors, food and even some 300 skeletons which were discovered in recent years along the seashore. It had been thought until then that the town had been evacuated by the inhabitants.Get a look at the city's artwork and architecture, and learn about the excavations that continue to this day, before you return to Sorrento in the early afternoon.
